Book-a-Day 15: Favourite fictional father
Over at Fennell Books you'll find the selection for this entry was Mr Weasley,
Ron’s father from Harry Potter series, and he was a strong contender, but I had
to go in the end with Atticus Finch from Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird.
He’s honest, fair, educated, doesn’t
discriminate on the basis of race, allows his daughter to be herself, stern when he needs to be, and always there for his children
when they need him. All in all, a
thoroughly good man. Even if you don't give two hoots for my personal opinions he's such a great man that (according to Wikipedia) Atticus Finch was voted the 7th best fictional character in 20th century fiction. What a Guy!
